Jesus Came:

IN Love;

BY Love;

FOR Love

16 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19 Quench not the Spirit.

I know that, even in my own preaching, we mostly quote this scripture to help ourselves and others to see and to know that God is working everything out for the good… It seems that we need that encouragement to face whatever dilemma that has come upon us, or that we have gotten ourselves into.

It is proper that we should quote this scripture and thank God for our adversities — even when we have trouble being sincere because we are hurt and do not understand and cannot see how anything good can come from our suffering. Maybe even especially then; for it is in those times we should remember that God announced, in 1 Samuel 15:22, that obedience is better than sacrifice…

I think this is, generally, a scripture to convict us and warn us to not be ungrateful for the trials that make us stronger and that build character… if, that is, we handle them correctly…

There is, however, another side to this scriptures, as well… We should thank Him for, and in the middle of our blessings as well…

In my own life, I have to really focus my mind to even recognize blessings for what they are… Otherwise, I will just take them for granted…

Oh, I don’t mean those huge blessings that all us recognize instantly. No. Not them…

I am talking about those mornings when you get up and you don’t really feel good, but you don’t feel bad, either…

Perhaps each time you pay a bill… You know; paying a bill is never pleasant, but having the money to pay the bill is a blessing… Having the money to pay all of your bills each and every month is a major blessing…

And what, exactly, does it mean to be able to pay all your bills? It means that you have a job… you are in good enough health to work…

Or, you don’t have a job, and God has provided for you in some other way or fashion… Even, if you think it was the government who gave you the stimulus check…

There are a thousand little things that we all take for granted, that we should thank God for each and every day… and not only because it is the Will of God that we do so, but because; if you are giving thanks for everything you have, that you ought to be thankful for, you won’t have near as much time for complaining…

Your whole frame of mind will be better; you will be more able to think clearly through the other things you must deal with, and your blood pressure will be lower…

In this God-principle, like most all of the others, the benefits are myriad and, when recognized and practiced, the reaping and the harvest is always bountiful and often unexpected, until it is realized.

Let us begin, in this season of turmoil, to count our blessings, and obey God in doing so. One thing that is certain: When God is Obeyed, He Opens the floodgates of Heaven and He lets it Rain Blessings down upon  the faithful!!!
